How Technology Has Changed The Way We Buy
Technology has always played a crucial role in how consumers go about shopping. However, the Internet has taken over as the convenient way to shop, and brick and mortar retailers and department stores no longer have an edge over online-based retailers. The trend toward online has been in tact for several years now, and a CNBC report analyzing online sales found that nearly every day during the Christmas holiday season, online sales handily topped $1 billion. The article then focuses on individual companies, like Amazon.com, which dominated the Christmas shopping season in 2016. According to the same CNBC report about online sales over the holiday period, Amazon singlehandedly dominated with regard to online transactions: "Slice Intelligence looked at 1.7 million online shopping receipts collected from Nov. 1 through Dec. 16, and discovered that the lion's share of those online purchases are going to Amazon. The e-commerce giant had a 36.9 percent share of the market."

Shopping Holidays
Today, shopping holidays are strategically important for companies looking to captivate consumers with good deals. Companies emphasize their deals for Black Friday and Cyber Monday: two of the most busiest shopping days that companies look to capitalize on.
