Google is one of the most revolutionary companies in education around the world. The introduction of Google and the internet in American education provided many kids with information that wasn't directly available to them in the past. For a research paper, they didn't have to depend on books located in their local library. Students could search the internet and find an immense amount of different views on their topic that they normally wouldn't be able to find.
No Child Left Behind Act was signed by President George W. Bush in 2002 in which the Federal government would be checking in on the academic progress of schools around the country. It mainly focused on closing the achievement gap between poor minority students and their classmates who had an advantage. States were required to test students and report the scores. The US has always been trying to close the achievement gap between students since they started normal schooling in the 1950's.
