Introduction
During arguably the most transformational period in American history, one of the only elements of the nation's identity still remained in tact: the basic concepts of the American Dream. Whether it was the children suffering in the Industrial Revolution, American soldiers in POW camps, or oppressed African Americans, doubt of the Dream's existence loomed. However, the resilience of the American people persevered through the challenges time and time again. At the end of the day, the flag still flew, and the American Dream still thrived.
