"[The Model T] is a car for the great multitude" -Henry Ford discussing the impact of the Model T would have on American society, allowing the business world of urban America to boom. Ford was even nominated for president because of his revolutionary ideas and his impact on American business. |
Henry Ford's Model T, while not the most fancy or advanced car of the time, is know as the first car for the common man. It allowed the growing middle class of the early 1900's to be more mobile and contributed to the influx of jobs emerging in the growing urban areas. Having easier access to modes of transportation beyond horse-drawn carriages and their own to feet allowed the middle class of America to more easily commute to work in the city. Ford's improvements to the assembly-line form of factory management also revolutionized the way factories would run for years. Implementing 8 hour work days, higher wages, and specialization of workers in one stage of the assembly process allowed Ford's plants to be more efficient and attracted workers from all over the country.
