1800s
In the 1800s, resources became a method of power in the United States. After realizing the wealth of the land, the U.S. began to discover the advantages that could come with these new resources. Part of this journey included the Civil War, which distinguished the power of fertility as the Union ultimately won due to an excess of resources that created railroads, telegraphs, and vegetation. The U.S. began exploiting this new knowledge of minerals and metals as it began to build up its economy industrially. Again, only on rare occasions would anyone stop to recognize these resources could disappear, but for now they became a source of power as they made daily routines quicker, leading to more growth for the nation.
