1600s and 1700s
The 1600's and 1700s birthed and delivered America's independence and dreams of freedom, but they also heralded a culture of devastation and exploitation. The ideals of entitlement, race superiority, and manifest destiny left holes in the foundation in which we built our nation. The Americas held promise for wealth and riches, but with promise comes greed. The white settlers began to tax the land for its resources without concern for how that would affect the entire continent. Few people even considered the idea that resources could run out and the Americas were portrayed as eternally bountiful to the rest of the world.
